Supporting the Child's Parents

Dr. Rabinovitz works extensively with parents and appreciates that parenting is perhaps the most difficult—as well as the most rewarding—occupation.

Dr. Rabinovitz personally returns phone calls to parents prior to setting up an initial appointment in order to decide if he is best suited to treat the child, or whether the child/family should see another psychologist or other specialist in the area.

Children are seen and worked with within the context of their family. Children are often seen with a parent(s) inĀ  the room in order to help the child feel comfortable and to be able to provide feedback from parents during the session.

Dr. Rabinovitz understands that parents are often extremely anxious by the time they reach out to him to make contact and discuss their child's issues. While the mother of the child is typically the parent who reaches out to him, Dr. Rabinovitz takes great care to make sure that the father is included in the work he does with the child. Further, if the child's parents are divorced, Dr, Rabinovitz will not see the child unless both parents give permission.

Dr. Rabinovitz wants parents to know that he will always treat them with respect. Further, parents should know that he considers no issue is too small or insignificant to discuss.

The child's parents are an integral part of any treatment process, and in cases where Dr. Rabinovitz sees a child on an individual basis, he will stay in regular and on-gong communication with the child's parents by means of office appointments, phone calls, and e-mail.
